October 2012 Hauls

...More like October 2012 Updates, haha!  =P  Honestly I misplaced a few of the things I picked up over the month of October, so rather than my usual big group shot I'm just going to share some of my Instagram pictures and blab about what's been happening...  (I'm fighting a yucky cold, cut me some slack!)

New Jeffrey Campbell Blyke shoes!  I had been wanting a pair of these and snagged them when they went on clearance - yay!  This is the baby pink suede color.  They are really soft to the touch...  And yes, they don't have heels!  They feel like regular heels, though.  Love them.  =)

A peek into my cell phone...  My husband was kind enough to root my smartphone, and now it is looking very pretty!  Prettier since this capture, in fact.  I've switched to a new live wallpaper that is more delicate, but still black with teal, white & purple!  Time for another screenshot, I guess.

One other gift from my other half was a new washer and dryer set!  They are white high efficiency models by LG,  No pictures of those but they are wonderful~  ^-^  Finally, no more toting laundry out of the house to get it done.  I did the Happy Housewife dance that day.  =D

New Layla nail polishes from www.FabulouStreet.com!  Must swatch these soon!

One of the reasons I've been away from the computer is that I've gone on a sewing kick...  Mom let/made me take a bunch of her sewing goodies and fabrics.  My sewing room was in a state of chaos thanks to all the new doo-dads that had to be put away, and I'm sure that is why I'm missing a few things around here!  Still, I got it back in working order and finished a few projects, as well as made this crazy nightcap for my guy.

How can that not put a smile on your face?  =D  He loves it and now his noggin stays nice and toasty through our chilly autumn nights.  It is made of flannel and love.

One day I was feeling depressed and had very little motivation, but I got myself to mix up a franken polish that I had dreamped up forever ago.  It helped lift my spirits and after that I was productive again.  This is Stardate, and it is a black jelly packed with holographic glitters!

I'm wearing it right now but it has been on my hands since last week and is not at all worthy of photographing.  It came out very nicely, though!

Well, that's all I've got for this quick post.  Once I have the rest of the clutter cleared out of my sewing/crafting/nail polish/shoe stash room maybe I can share some photos!  =)

The amazing strawberry shortcake with ice cream that I shared with my husband last weekend.  Yum!

Different Dimension - Iris & Orly - After Party

Swatch & Review

Second to last Different Dimension nail polish!  This one is a rainbow flakie named Iris.  I wanted something like this in my collection, and after using it I'm very happy that I chose this particular polish!  Also, I snagged Orly After Party from a blog sale.  Once I had it in my hands I knew I couldn't swatch Iris over a plain black creme as I originally planned...

I used two coats of After Party and two coats of Iris topped with one coat of Poshe.  Both polishes contain flakies, which are tricky to capture, so I took several pictures.  Read on to find out what I though of each one!

Different Dimension - Light It Up Blue (For Autism)

Swatch & Review

Today I'm reviewing a fun glow-in-the-dark polish by Different Dimension named Light It Up Blue.  This polish was made to help raise money & awareness for Autism, which is something that affects my family personally.  It really does light up blue, that's for sure!

I put Light It Up Blue over a white creme, and China Glaze Caribbean Blue (a blue polish with shimmer flecks) on my accent nails.  I used two coats of Light It Up Blue except for my ring and pinky; those nails got 3 coats to see if it would make difference in glow power.  I ended up taking a bunch of pictures and even tried my hand at pictures of this polish in the dark to show all it's glowing glory!

Different Dimension - Social Suicide

Swatch & Review

Out of all the Different Dimension polishes I've done swatches for I employed the most creativity with Social Suicide.  I loved wearing these nails!  They were just so happy... literally!  (Once you see the face created by a random swipe of glitter you can't unsee it.)

To create my Lisa Frank-esque base I painted my ring and thumb nails white, then added stripes on top.  Left to right I used L.A. Colors Art Deco polishes in Poppin' Pink, Dee-lite, Hi-Lite, and Limon.  I added a swipe of China Glaze Gothic Lolita to the outside of my thumb to tie my rainbows in with the rest of my nails, which were done in two coat of Gothic Lolita as well.  Then each nail got a coat of Different Dimension Social Suicide.  More pictures (including those of smiley nail!) and thoughts ahead!

Different Dimension - Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty

Swatch & Review

I get to share a totally purrfect nail polish with you today.  I'm letting the cat out of the bag on Different Dimension Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty.  So, let's see what the cat drug in, shall we?

I used two coats of Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty over China Glaze Pelican Grey.  Pelican Grey is just a whisker darker than the grey base of Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty.  They work very well together.

Different Dimension - That Is So Fetch!

Swatch & Review

Have you ever been on the fence about something that a lot of people say is great but you aren't sure you really need it?  So you almost don't get it?  I was that way about Different Dimension - That Is So Fetch!  I'm drawn to purple nail polishes.  That means I have several purple glitter polishes already, and I almost didn't get this one.  Finally I told myself that I would use it, so I should add it to my collection.  I'm so glad I did!

September 2012 Hauls

My second monthly haul post and I've already managed to be late!  Well, not really, I'm aiming for end of the month or start of the new month, but I did want to post this two days ago.  Technical difficulties botched my plans.  I wanted to put up another Different Dimension polish today.  You will get to see Different Dimension polishes here too, at least.  So, let's see what I got!

A My Little Pony calender for next year, yes!  I was thrilled when I spotted it.  Now I'll have more ponies in my sewing room during the coming months.  Also, it probably ties with second-hand nail polish as the cheapest thing I bought.  =P  Let's see the little things up close...
